SUNFLOWER - Mixed Media
This is my demo from the Studio Tour.  I started out with just painting the sunflowers but decided to add some rice papers and texture.  It definitely has more zing.

and you cannot see the shadow.
It's what sunflowers do."

Since I need a pick me up I decided to go through some of the paintings that I just "piled" in my bin..the ones I just didn't like or some I didn't finish. I am going to try acrylics on top of them and see how it looks. If one of them turns out decent I will post it. Donna Basplay's workshop really made a great impression on me and I have been leaning more and more to combine the two mediums. Some of them have worked and some are now out of the bin into the trash :)

A great day to stroll along the ocean as there were hundreds of dragon boaters racing today. I have to admire them pushing themselves to the limit and getting wet and probably cold. I was never very athletic. Saved my muscles to hold a paint brush ?? right.

I had to photograph this painting from the side because the flash just bounced off the gold and made it a blur. This is a piece of masks, music and texture. I call it Midnight at Mardi Gras

I really would like some feedback on this type of painting. It is a stretch for me using acryics+collage. I like the feeling of "stained glass" but do you think it works?

This is one of the mixed media I did at the workshop. I loved the texture you could build on your paper and the rich fluid acrylics that made beautiful passages.
