This is the 61st Art Show our club hosts. This year we had over 200 participants so it is a very big show and very well attended. I am always interested to see what the jurors choose as the best pieces.
The realistic, well rendered paintings don't seem to make the grade...the abstracts or paintings with very fractured images seem to win every year. Interestingly enough, the audience is given the opportunity to chose their favourite painting and it is always one that evokes a feeling.. and they are always realistic paintings.
The sales were around $35,000.00 so people came to buy. This is always a two day show and this year people were lined up before it opened. This is a very artsy area and there is always a show or two on in the area so it is rewarding to see the turnout.
This show is always a success thanks to the hundreds of volunteers. Well, it has wrapped up for another year.
